BEAMM. BRUSSELS is an online open-access tax-benefit microsimulation model for the Brussels Capital Region. You can specify a detailed fiscal or social policy reform, and simulate and analyze the impact of this reform on a (fictitious) sample of households representative of the population of the Brussels Capital Region.
Change the parameters of the taxes/benefits according to the reform you wish to simulate.
Click the "Simulate" button to perform the simulation. The model will run with the new parameters for the chosen reform.

To construct, we proceed in the following steps.
We use advanced statistical (A.I.) methods to create a fictitious but highly realistic dataset representative of the population of Brussels and containing all the necessary information to compute the covered taxes and benefits.
We project our dataset, representative of the recent past, into the present or near future in function of demographic and economic projections.
We compute for all individuals in our sample all the covered taxes, social security contributions and social benefits twice - once for the current tax-benefit system and once for the reformed tax-benefit system of your choice.
We compare the situation of all individuals before and after the policy reform, and present an extensive analysis and visualization of the reform from a variety of viewpoints.
Households are likely to adapt their (working, consumption, mobility etc.) behavior in function of taxbenefit reforms at some point. To take behavioral reactions into account, allows you to include the predictions of econometric behavioral models in your impact assessment of a reform.
WHO WE ARE is built and maintained by the Center for Applied Public Economics (CAPE) at the UCLouvain Saint-Louis - Bruxelles, and is made available online for free as a didactic tool in order to reinforce the democratic debate - without any guarantees. We also use the beamm platform for scientific research and for policy evaluation and policy support for public administrations and civil society.
